Box Score BOXSCORE

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women’s soccer team (1-2-0) lost its home opener, to Florida Southern (1-3-1), 1-0, Wednesday afternoon at the NSU Soccer Complex.

The game’s lone goal came with two minutes left in the first half off of a free kick that made its way into the Sharks’ box and onto the foot of Florida Southern’s Kirra Rainbow, who was able to put it in the back of the net.

Florida Southern’s goalkeeper Erin Moseley had eight saves in the game to preserve the shutout for Florida Southern.

The best opportunity of the game for the Sharks came ten minutes into the second half when Malin Broberg (Jr. Stockholm, Sweden), blasted a shot off the cross bar then collecting her own rebound and sent the ball just over the goal.

Sierra Lelii (So. Seminole, Fla.), gave NSU multiple opportunities in the first half, one coming in the 10th minute of the game when she sent a shot just wide of the goal.  In the 14th minute, Broberg had another great opportunity, when she took the ball from the left side of the box and hit a well-driven shot towards the top left corner that Moseley was able to deflect away.

Despite outshooting the Moc’s,15-6, and beating them out in the number of corner kicks, nine to four, eight of which came in the second half, the Sharks were unable to put one in the net.

The Sharks’ next game will be at the NSU Soccer Complex for another double header, as they take on Florida Tech in a conference showdown, Saturday, Sept. 15th at 7:30 p.m.
