Box Score BOX SCORE

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women’s soccer team (2-3-1, 1-1-0 SSC) lost its first conference match of the season to the Florida Southern Mocs (3-4-1, 1-0-0 SSC), 2-1, Tuesday evening.

The scoring started in the 18th minute for the Mocs, when Caroline Evers took a well driven shot from the top of the box into the lower left corner of the goal, giving Florida Southern an early 1-0 lead.

Just four minutes later, Evers was able to steal an errant pass out of the back from the Sharks, took the ball down the left side of the field and played a low driven cross to Erin Philips in the box, who took a one time shot it into the lower left corner and into the net. The Mocs outshot the Sharks, 9-1, in the first half.

The lone goal in the second half came with two minutes left in the match, when Tori Vives (Fr., Cooper City, Fla.) dribbled down the right side of the field and hit a well driven low cross into the box and off of a Mocs defender for an own goal.

Florida Southern outshot the Sharks, 21-7, on the evening.  Goalkeeper Amanda Kopale (Fr., Cape Coral, Fla.) made two saves for NSU.

These teams played each other earlier in the season in a non-conference match at the NSU Soccer Complex, where the Mocs won, 1-0.

The Sharks’ next match is at the NSU Soccer Complex, where they will take on Lynn in a conference showdown, Saturday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m.
