FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University women’s soccer team will begin its 2012 season at the Bobcat Shootout, in Milledgeville, Ga., where the Sharks will face host-team Georgia College & State (1-1) on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Tusculum (1-1) on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m.
This will be the second year in a row in which the Sharks will be playing in the Shootout. NSU went 2-0 last season, beating Tusculum, 4-3, in double overtime and Wingate, 4-1.
The Sharks will look to repeat a previous trend, as they have won three of the last four season-openers.
The women’s soccer team has a wealth of experience this season, returning seven starters from the 2011 team. Looking to lead the team are juniors
Dilja Olafsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) and
Malin Broberg (Stockholm, Sweden), both of which were All-South Region selections last season. NSU is also bringing in 14 newcomers who will look to add depth to this young Sharks team.
NSU will be playing Georgia College & State for the first time in school history, but have played Tusculum three times prior to this weekend, winning all three of these meetings.
The Sharks will play their first home match at the NSU Soccer Complex, Wednesday, Sept. 12 where they will face conference foe Florida Southern.
