FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team (11-6, 4-4 SSC) snapped a three-game winning streak Wednesday at the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center, falling to the Barry Buccaneers, 68-61.

Brian Cahill (So., Arlington, Va.) tied a career-high in scoring against the Bucs, with 19 points on 6-for-13 shooting. He also led the team with 10 rebounds, including four out of NSU’s five offensive boards. Lukas Roesch (Sr., Sugar Grove, Ohio) had 11 points and four assists, bringing his total to 14 assists over the last three games.

The Sharks came out strong Wednesday on a 9-2 run after three straight 3-pointers. The Sharks continued to shoot strong in the first half, but turnovers nullified the accuracy. NSU had nine first-half turnovers to Barry’s one. The Bucs would take a 31-28 lead at the break.

As Barry built a 45-40 lead, the Sharks flipped the script and began taking advantage of Barry’s turnovers. NSU went on a 10-0 run that put them back ahead. The Sharks and Bucs played close until there was four minutes left. Down the stretch, Barry shot 3-for-5 and hit the biggest shot of the game, a Filip Toric 3-pointer with 55 seconds left. Barry took a 64-56 lead on the bucket and cruised to victory.

Although Barry did not handle the ball as well in the second half, they made up for it with seven offensive rebounds. Barry ended the night with four more offensive boards and four less turnovers, resulting in eight more shot attempts than NSU. The Sharks slightly outshot the road team, 43 percent to 41 percent, but could not make up for the difference in shot attempts.

Justin Jeangerard (So., Weaverville, Calif.) scored eight points on 50 percent shooting. He also tallied seven rebounds and three steals.

The Sharks will look to rebound and earn revenge for an early-season loss on Saturday, when NSU hosts Saint Leo at 4 p.m. The game will broadcast live on 640 Sports.
