FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's soccer team (4-8-1, 0-2-1 SSC) dropped a Sunshine State Conference match to the Rollins Tars (10-3-0, 4-1-0 SSC), 4-1, Saturday evening at the NSU Soccer Complex.
In a tightly contested first half, the Tars ran away with the match in the second half, outscoring the Sharks 3-0.
The Sharks got on the board first on a
Rebecca Barb (So., Woodbury, N.J) goal in the 12th minute of the match. Barb received a ball from over the top from
Alexandra Siciliano (Sr., New Hyde Park, N.Y.). Barb then dribbled around three Tars defenders and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner from the center of the box. The goal was Barb's first of her collegiate career and the first goal for the Sharks in over three matches.
Rollins knotted up the match with 29 minutes left in the half, on Emma Jones sixth goal of the season. The teams would go into half with a 1-1 score line.
Rollins took their first lead of the match just four minutes into the second half. After a scrum in the box, Emma Jones was the last person to get a touch on the ball, as she slotted it into the back of the net. The goal was Jones' third game-winning goal of the season.
Rachel Lopez (Fr., Orlando, Fla.) saw her first collegiate action, after she relieved
Sandra Rolon (Jr., San Juan, P.R.), with 35 minutes left to play in the match. Lopez finished the match with four saves.
Rollins tallied two late goals in the 76th and the final minute of the match to give the Tars the three-goal advantage.
The Tars outshot the Sharks in a high-shooting affair, 27-13, and also held a slight advantage in corners, 3-1.
