FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern men's soccer team (3-6-3, 0-4-1) will play the first of its three final Sunshine State Conference matches on Wednesday, traveling to St. Petersburg, Fla. to face Eckerd (3-8-2, 1-3-0 SSC) at 6 p.m.

The Sharks had their schedule front loaded this year and have played three top-10 nationally ranked teams and the top five seeds in the SSC standings. Their brutal schedule, combined with key injuries at the start of conference play, has put NSU in a hole. Fortunately, the Sharks have teams currently ranked sixth, seventh and eighth left on the schedule, along with a nonconference home match against Northwood.

NSU is currently five points out of the playoff picture, with Tampa and Florida Southern holding down seeds five and six with six total points. However, those two teams, along with Eckerd and Florida Tech, all have matches against the league's top three teams remaining on their schedule. In order to take advantage, NSU will need to win Wednesday, avenge their draw against Florida Tech and win at home against Florida Southern on senior day.

The Sharks have proven already that they have what it takes to go on a run to end the year. The Sharks have previously defeated No. 6 Lynn, 4-1, and are coming off a three-goal performance in a loss against undefeated No. 2 Rollins. NSU's three goals on Saturday are the most Rollins has given up this season.

Eckerd enters the match on a four-match losing streak. Since defeating Florida Tech, 2-1, on Oct. 5, the Tritons have been outscored 19-3. The Tritons will be in must-win mode, with No. 2 Rollins, No. 10 Saint Leo and Barry remaining on their slate.

The Sharks are 12-4 all-time against the Tritons. Last season, the Sharks split two matches, with each team winning on the road.
