Women’s Soccer Falls to No. 5 Spartans

The Spartans outshot the Sharks 19-3.

Box Score

Tampa, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's soccer team (4-2-0) fell to the No. 5 Tampa Spartans (7-0-0), 3-0, Saturday, evening at Pepin Stadium, in a non-conference battle. The loss ended the Sharks three-game win streak.

In the first half the Sharks were on the defensive, as the Spartans outshot NSU, 9-0. The backline for NSU held strong, until UT finally broke through in the 44th minute, on a shot through traffic from about eight yards out. The shot deflected off of a body and into the net. Sandra Rolon (Jr., San Juan, P.R.) kept the first half close, making a couple quick reaction saves. Rolon finished the half with three saves.

The second half followed the same trend, as the Spartans scored in the 59th and the 67th minute to put the game out of reach for NSU.

The Sharks were outshot 19-3 in the match, with all three shots coming from the senior forward Malin Broberg (Stockholm, Sweden). Two of her shots were on target.

This is the first of two meetings between the teams this season. The Sharks will look for revenge as they host the Spartans Oct. 15, in a Sunshine State Conference matchup.

NSU has a few days off before they take on the Florida Tech Panthers, Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the NSU Soccer Complex.
