Box Score FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University women's soccer team picked up their second Sunshine State Conference win in a row, defeating Eckerd on Senior Night by a 2-0 margin.
The Sharks (6-6-0, 3-5-0 SSC) were able to make
Sara Lundberg's (So., Linköping, Sweden) goal in the 30th minute hold up to wrap up their 2014 conference slate. She was able to create room for herself in the box and rifle it past Tritons (7-6-1, 3-3-1 SSC) goalkeeper Morgan Crescent.
As it was in Wednesday's shutout win over Lynn, the Sharks' midfield and defense were able to keep the lead, at that slim advantage for the next 57 minutes of the match. Keeper
Amanda Kopale (R-So., Cape Coral, Fla.) only faced three Eckerd shots and recorded a lone save in that timespan.
Sarah Keville (Jr., Vero Beach, Fla.) provided the icing on the cake, rocketing a shot from at least 10 yards above the left corner of the box with just over three minutes left to provide the final margin.
NSU outshot the visitors 14-3 to send off seniors
Kaitlyn Cauffman (Orlando, Fla.) and
Kelsey McCusker (Stone Harbor, N.J.) with a victory. Cauffman was unable to play due to injury; McCusker played all 90 minutes on the pitch as part of the Sharks' stingy defense.
The Sharks travel to Boca Raton on Tuesday night to makeup an earlier postponement of a match against Lynn. It will be out-of-conference, beginning at 7 p.m. The regular season ends two days later, on Thursday, when they host Johnson & Wales at the NSU Soccer Complex.
