Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University women's soccer team picked up their third win in a row, topping border rival Lynn on the road in Tuesday night's out-of-conference matchup, 1-0.
Neither team dented the net before the halftime break, with the Sharks (7-6-0) taking six shots to four by Lynn (4-11-0).
Amanda Kopale (R-So., Cape Coral, Fla.) saved two of those Fighting Knight attempts.
Finally, it was
Julia Nytorp (Jr., Örnsköldsvik, Sweden) who was able to get one past the goal line, intercepting an errant Lynn pass on the left side of the box and knocking it into the far right side of the net in the 57th minute to put NSU up 1-0.
That slim margin would hold up, with Kopale only having to save two more home attempts for the remainder of the match.
Tori Vives (Jr., Cooper City, Fla.) provided some insurance when she notched her first goal of the year, converting a nice pass from
Sara Lundberg (So., Linköping, Sweden) to beat Lynn's keeper, Cailtin Shaver, on a 1-on-1 opportunity with just 9:50 left.
Lynn wouldn't get another chance on goal, and the NSU defense garnered their third straight shutout. The Sharks will have one more match to wrap up the 2014 season, back home at the NSU Soccer Complex. They will host Johnson & Wales this Thursday night, with game time at 7 p.m.
