OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT PAGEWINTER PARK, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University tennis squad picked up five more victories on the second day of the C.L. Varner Memorial Invitational, with two singles players moving to their winner's bracket championships, and two others plus a doubles team moving into their consolation finals.
Both
Sabrina Kierberg (Jr., Munich, Germany) and
Linda Kornienko (Jr., Fort Myers, Fla.) remain undefeated and will play for their respective flight title on Sunday. Kierberg won her A draw semifinal match over Elizabeth Abanda of Barry in three sets, 3-6, 7-6, 10-6. Kornienko advanced to the D championship by topping Valentina Chacin of Lynn in a spotless victory, 6-0, 6-0.
Sunday morning will see Kierberg pair off against top seed Karina Goia of Barry at 10 a.m., while Kornienko and another Barry Buc, Jasi Witherspoon, will meet at 11:30 a.m. to determine the D winner.
Two more Sharks won their singles matches on the consolation side to advance to their finals as well.
Alexandra Johansson (Sr., Sydney, Australia), in three, edged Flagler's Hanna Goettsching, 5-7, 7-5, 10-8 in the A backdraw. Also moving on was
Bianca Roberts (Sr., Ft. Walden Beach, Fla.), a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Palm Beach Atlantic's Leyla Taracena in the C flight.
Their two consolation title matchups will both take place at 10 a.m. Johansson will face off against Thaisa Pereira of Flagler, and Roberts gets Rollins' Emma Wookey.

Irina Constantinide (Jr., Galati, Romania) in the A flight, where they will battle Saint Leo's Anastasia Wagner and Maria Benikrane at 8:30 a.m. The Shark duo advanced due to a withdrawal by Fabiana Vitanza and Zoe Monge of Rollins.
Two more NSU doubles teams fell on Saturday.
Charlotte Cote (Sr., Montreal, Canada) and
Carlee Rizzolo (Jr., Livingston, N.J.) lost 8-4 to Wookey and Taylor Brown of Rollins in the B semifinals, while Roberts and Kornienko were upended by the Saint Leo combo of Katherine Zaatini and Coralie Pesenti in the B consolation.
Constantinide, in B singles action, fell in a three-set heartbreaker to Benikrane, 6-1, 0-6, 10-7. Cote was topped in the C consolation, 6-3, 6-3 by PBA's Ana Reich.
