FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University men's soccer team (5-3-0) will take a break from Sunshine State Conference play to face the South Region's top team, the No. 5 Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (8-0-1), Saturday in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The Sharks are in the midst of a four-match road trip that represents the toughest portion of the schedule for the Sharks. NSU is 1-1 so far on the trip, taking down Ave Maria Saturday before falling to the defending NCAA National Champions in the Lynn Fighting Knights.
Although the Sharks will not be playing for points in the league, NSU will look to be the first team to defeat a Sailfish squad that is making the case as the best in the nation. A provisional member of the SSC, PBA has averaged 5.3 goals per match with wins over Florida Tech, Tampa and Florida Southern. Against SSC schools, PBA has averaged 4.5 goals per match with an 18-5 goal differential.
Fortunately, history is on NSU's side Saturday. The Sharks are 19-9 all-time against the Sailfish despite not facing them since 2012. NSU has more wins against PBA than any opponent currently in the NCAA.
The match will be the final nonconference road contest of the season. NSU will get the week to rest before traveling to Saint Leo on Saturday to end its longest road stand of the year.
