Women's Soccer Season Comes to a Close in NCAA Tourney

Sharks fall 1-0 to UWF in South Region first round

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University women's soccer team's breakthrough 2015 season came to an end in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, as they fell 1-0 to West Florida at the South Regional held at Barry's Buccaneer Field.

The Sharks (12-4-2) fell prey to one successful shot over Friday's 90 minutes, when Daryl Bell came through at 15:47 for UWF (15-4-1). The Argos held on to that minute advantage over the remainder of the first half and all of the second, and their defense tightened up, only allowing one Shark shot after intermission.

Sierra Lelii (R-Sr., Seminole, Fla.) had four of the team's six total attempts as one of 12 Sharks ending their career at NSU. Sabrina Magno (So., Lake Mary, Fla.) and Emily Stearns (Fr., Orlando, Fla.) had the other two.

Amanda Kopale (R-Jr., Cape Coral, Fla.), also finishing up her Shark tenure, had four saves against a total of 14 UWF shots. She, Lelii and fellow fourth-years Samantha Gestido (Hialeah, Fla.), Julia Nytorp (Örnsköldsvik, Sweden) and Lauren Paul (Stockton, Calif.) all played the entirety of the match.

The Sharks and the coaching staff of John Constable and Andres Pedraza will now look towards their second season together beginning in the fall of 2016.
