FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Off to one of their best starts in over two decades, the 6-1 Nova Southeastern University volleyball team returns to friendly confines of the NSU Arena at the Don Taft University Center on Friday, Sept. 18 to open up Sunshine State Conference play against Barry at 7 p.m.

Following the Friday night match against the Buccaneers, the Sharks will face two additional foes in Lynn and Flagler on Saturday, Sept. 19 to close out a third straight weekend where NSU has taken on three or more opponents in a single weekend. The Lynn match is slated for a 2 p.m. start followed by a 6 p.m. matchup against Flagler.

Although the Sharks currently rank third in the SSC standings behind No. 1 Tampa and No. 2 Florida Southern, they will have their work cut out for them starting a full weekend of competition. The Buccaneers come into Friday night's match with a 2-1 record and have had a two-week break heading into the match.

With a short turnaround, the Sharks will face another tough SSC opponent in the 5-1 Lynn Fighting Knights at 2 p.m. the following day. Lynn holds a 21-16 series advantage over NSU and currently ranks third in the SSC in team hitting percentage. Later the same day, NSU will venture outside of the SSC to face regional contender Flagler. The Saints are 7-1 on the season, but the Sharks hold a 32-9 series lead.

Just two weeks into the season, the Sharks are fresh off a 3-1 weekend at the USC Aiken Volleyball Invitational. NSU picked up their wins against Belmont Abbey, Lees McRae and a miraculous come-from-behind victory over King. They were handed their only loss of the season so far to the tournament host Pacers who advanced to the round of 64 just a year ago.

In back-to-back weeks, both Katie Pyles (Jr., Denver, Colo.) and Dana Holger (Sr., Lino Lakes, Minn.) earned all-tournament honors having picked up the same awards post Sharks Invitational the week prior. Pyles averaged just over eight assists and two digs per set and collected 31 kills, while Holger led the team in kills in all but one match.
