Sharks Set to Honor Seniors in Matchup with Eckerd

Home schedule wraps up with 7 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Currently unbeaten at 6-0-2 at the NSU Soccer Complex in 2016, No. 14 Nova Southeastern will look to put an exclamation point on a perfect home slate when Eckerd heads to town this Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.

The Sharks extended their overall unbeaten streak to nine games this past Wednesday with a scoreless, double overtime draw against Barry. The draw marked the second straight for Nova Southeastern, yet the Sharks have maintained pace in the Sunshine State Conference race and remain just one point behind sixth-ranked Rollins for the top spot in the league.

Keying Nova Southeastern's success throughout the year, but especially during the recent weeks, has been its stifling defense. With three more saves in the effort against the Buccaneers, keeper Ida Norstrom guided the Sharks to their fifth consecutive home shutout for the first time since 2010 and seventh overall this year. In fact, Norstrom has still yet to allow a goal in six starts at home this season, a stretch that spans 535 minutes. As a result, the Sharks currently lead the league in both goals against (8) and scoring margin (+1.46).

The Eckerd defense has experienced similar success as of late after consecutive shutout victories over Lynn and Florida Southern lifted the Tritons back to .500 on the season with a 7-7-2 record.

A free kick in the sixth minute from Ashley Kreinbring propelled the Tritons to their latest win, a 1-0 decision on the road against the Moccasins. While Kreinbring was the hero on Wednesday, Eckerd will expect to lean on leading goal scorers Olivia Ross-Johnson and Kayla Gray. Together, the two have combined for 11 of the club's 17 goals, helping the Tritons compile a 4-2-1 record in matches in which at least one of them has scored.

Dating back to 2003, NSU hasn't lost to Eckerd in the last 15 regular season meetings in the series.

NSU will celebrate its senior class in Gabriela Alfaro, Sydney Franko, Brittany Plombon and Nichole Poppe in a ceremony prior to kickoff Saturday. For complete coverage of the matchup, follow along on Twitter at @NSU_WSoccer and by clicking on the provided links on the schedule page.
