Conference Play Concludes Wednesday Against Saint Leo

NSU has averaged 2.0 goals per game in its last four matches

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – As the 2016 regular season winds down with just one week remaining, Nova Southeastern will attempt to finish on a high note as it welcomes Sunshine State Conference foe Saint Leo to the NSU Soccer Complex Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.

Previously slated for October 8, the Sharks' matchup with the Lions was bumped to Wednesday due to Hurricane Matthew earlier this month. While postponing games is never an ideal situation, the schedule shift has likely benefitted Nova Southeastern as the team has shown much improvement throughout the recent weeks.

Not only have each of the Sharks' previous four SSC contests been decided by one goal, but during that span Nova Southeastern also earned a 3-2 'W' on the road at Barry. In addition, the Sharks combined for only five goals in its first nine matches of the season, however have since come to life by recording eight scores in its last four contests.

Like the Sharks, the Lions will head to Fort Lauderdale playing perhaps their best soccer of the season after collecting their third consecutive victory this past Saturday against Florida Southern. Knotted at 2-2 in the 88th minute, forward Teddy Auyoma converted his second score of the match on a free kick just outside of the 18-yard box to lift Saint Leo to a dramatic come-from-behind win.

Auyoma has provided a huge boost for the Lions' offense, tallying four of his team-high five goals during the past three games, and is a big reason for the program's late-season turnaround. Since opening the year at 0-3 in league play, Saint Leo has since won three of its last four conference matches to climb back into the SSC Tournament talk. Head coach Keith Fulk's club currently sits in seventh in the league standings, yet is just one point behind Eckerd and Rollins with a chance to leapfrog both teams into the fifth spot.

A late score in the 80th minute pushed Saint Leo past NSU 1-0 in 2015's lone meeting.
