FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After wrapping up league play with a record of 6-1-2 following Friday's 3-1 victory at Lynn, the Nova Southeastern women's soccer team has earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Sunshine State Conference Tournament, hosted by Saint Leo.
The Lions clinched the regular season title Sunday afternoon after beating Palm Beach Atlantic 4-0, edging out the Sharks by a mere two points in the final standings. Still, Nova Southeastern is automatically thrust into the semifinal round set for 7 p.m. ET this Friday as the top-two seeds in the conference were awarded byes, and will await the winner of third-seeded Barry and sixth-seeded Florida Tech.
Head coach John Constable's club picked up a scoreless draw against Barry at home less than two weeks ago, while collecting a 2-0 shutout win versus Florida Tech back on October 12.
NSU was ousted in last year's SSC Tournament semifinal round, falling 5-4 in penalty kicks to Tampa.
