MIAMI, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern men's basketball team fell to the undefeated St. Thomas (Fla.) Bobcats in an exhibition contest Saturday evening by the final score of 70-60.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle, yet some clutch shooting capped by a late bucket from
Jordan Stookey gave head coach
Gary Tuell's bunch a 36-34 advantage just before intermission.
Similar to the first matchup, though, after trailing at the half the Bobcats came out of the locker room firing on all cylinders and brought the pressure immediately.
St. Thomas (Fla.) took advantage of numerous NSU turnovers, cashing in with some precise shooting from all over the field. The Bobcats' effort resulted in a 36-24 margin after halftime, eventually giving the home team its second victory over the Sharks this season.
Troy Spears tallied a game-high 25 points to go along with five rebounds, while
Dwayne Gibson added 10 points and three rebounds.
The Bobcats spread the ball around well as they had five players finish in double figures. Michael Walker and Kristers Zeidaks each recorded 16 points, while Raheem Bowman and Tim Sada each scored 12 points respectively. Mikon Hewitt poured in 10 points to round out the double-figure performances for STU.
The Sharks will return home tomorrow at 2 p.m. ET to take on ranked Southern Connecticut State. For complete coverage, log onto
