NSU Athletics Teams Up to Give Back this Holiday Season

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Demonstrating the gift of giving during the holidays, the Nova Southeastern athletics department joined forces once again in making this special season brighter for one deserving family in the Davie, Florida area this past week.

Through the help of the nearby Russell Education Foundation, the kind-hearted bunch filled in as Santa for a local mother and her four children. Presents ranging from the likes of sports gear to clothing were gathered, wrapped and delivered well in advance to make a difference for a family besides their own.

The Russell Education Foundation was established in 1998 by then-Miami Dolphins linebacker, Twan Russell, and his mother, Corliss, a middle-school teacher with a huge heart for helping struggling children. The foundation's objective is to raise awareness about the challenges that illiteracy causes to disadvantaged youth, as well as the lack of resources to address this issue.
