Box Score MATCH RESULTSFORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Nova Southeastern University women's tennis team added another win to their record as they put a stop to the 17 game undefeated mark of No. 12 New York Institute of Technology on Monday, March 21 at the NSU Tennis Complex in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The Sharks improve to 8-1 overall after defeating the Bears by a final team score of 6-3. Two doubles victories gave NSU the initial lead over NYIT. The No. 2 squad
Klaudia Boczova (Jr., Bratislava, Slovakia) and
Carlee Rizzolo (Sr., Livingston, N.J.) provided the Sharks first point of the day with 8-0 doubles win. Followed after was the triumph of No. 1 combination
Petra Jurova (Sr., Bratislava, Slovakia) and
Sabrina Kierberg (Sr., Munich, Germany) by a mark of 8-4.
German sensation
Sabrina Kierberg led the Sharks team with a 6-0, 6-0 success over NYIT's No. 1 singles. Following her steps was Rizzolo with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 4 singles. By this point the Sharks led the Bears 4-1, but the competition was intense as NYIT did not back down. NSU took the No. 2 singles through Jurova with a score of 6-3, 7-5. The most even game of the day happened in the No. 5 court, which was decided through a game-breaker that ended in favor of Irina Constantine (Sr., Galati, Romania) 6-3, 6-7 (7), (10-3).
NSU women's tennis will have a few days to rest and prepare for their next away match versus the provisional Sunshine State Conference rival Embry-Riddle on Friday, March 25 at 3:30 p.m. in Daytona Beach, Fla.
