FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – An early deficit proved too deep for Nova Southeastern on the road Wednesday night as the Sharks fell 2-0 to Sunshine State Conference provisional member Embry-Riddle.
An errant back pass stolen by Joao Belmonte led to the Eagles' first goal in the seventh minute before Felix Moller flicked a chip shot over Sharks' keeper
Nico Rosiglioni to give Embry-Riddle a rapid 2-0 cushion less than 11 minutes into the match.
"Tonight was a disappointing result, but more importantly a disappointing performance," said Nova Southeastern head coach
Matt Watts following the setback. "Congratulations to Embry-Riddle tonight. They came out, and at times played great soccer. We were complacent and we didn't do the little things that have helped us play well in previous games. It was a big step back. All we can do now is re-evaluate, work on getting better and turn our focus towards Saturday versus Lynn."
Although Nova Southeastern outshot its opponent for the second consecutive game (11-6), the Sharks were unable to string together enough offense to climb back into the contest and now drop to 2-5, 0-2 in the SSC on the year.
Searching for a turnaround, the Sharks will look to snap their recent skid when they welcome Lynn to the NSU Soccer Complex this Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. For complete coverage of the action, visit
