Box Score FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The NSU women's soccer team topped the visiting Lions of Florida Memorial University, 3-1, on Wednesday evening at the NSU Soccer Complex, improving their overall record to 3-0.
Offensively, the Sharks blew the Lions (0-2) out of the water. With a 13-3 advantage in shots, NSU also edged FMU in shots on goal, eight to three. Wednesday night was also a record-breaking night for the Sharks. With a total of 17 corner kicks, NSU beat the 16-year single-match record of 14, set in Oct. 2000 against Flagler College.
Both teams were slow to start, heading into the break knotted at 0-0, but it didn't take NSU much time to get on the board in the second half.
Sydney Franko recorded her first collegiate goal in the 46th minute, heading a beautiful cross from teammate
Tova Nilsson into the top-right corner of the net. This was Nilsson's second assist on the early season.
Less than 10 minutes later in the 54th minute,
Hannah Christophe tallied her second goal of the season from 25 yards out, giving the Sharks a 2-0 advantage.
The Lions brought the deficit to just one goal in the 76th minute when Bianca Combe found the back of the net off a deflected save by
Brittany Plombon, who entered in relief of starting goalkeeper
Jordan Lentz.
NSU quickly took back its two-goal advantage six minutes later, when
Chloe Hoffman netted her first-career goal in the 82nd minute.

Lentz (1-0) picked up the win for Nova Southeastern, making one save in 74:23 in goal. Reliever
Brittany Plombon also made one save in her 15:37 in goal.
Maria Kecskemeti (0-2) was handed the loss after seeing the full 90 minutes in goal for the Lions, making five saves while allowing three goals.
