FORT LAUDERDALE. Fla. – Following a critical 63-56 Sunshine State Conference victory over Rollins last week, Nova Southeastern will look to add another win to its resume when it takes on Eckerd in St. Petersburg, Florida on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Sharks opened up a 13-point lead in the first half before holding on down the stretch against the Tars. Despite a short-handed lineup,
Harrison Goodrick paced three players in double-figures with 18 points – his 10
th double-digit performance in the last 11 ball games.
Troy Spears added 17 points in the effort to go along with 12 from
Nikita Orap in his second start this year, while
Gerard Tarin cleaned up on the glass with a game-high 13 rebounds.
Tarin led the way in the stat sheet on the defensive end of the floor, but it was a complete team effort that limited Rollins to just 37.3 percent shooting en route to the program's fewest points allowed in a single game since beating Rollins 55-53 back on January 14, 2015
With their previous four-game losing streak officially past them, the Sharks have a yet another shot at their first SSC road 'W' and first true road victory away from NSU Arena overall this season. Eckerd expects to provide a stiff test, though, as the Tritons enter the contest with a record of 7-3 at home this season including a 4-1 mark against SSC opponents.
Although Eckerd is currently receiving votes in the latest NABC Coaches' Poll, the Tritons have dropped two of three since previously reeling off 10 straight victories. The Tritons rallied to within three points in last Saturday's contest at Florida Southern after trailing by as many as 17 in the second half, yet were unable to complete the comeback before eventually falling 87-79 to the Moccasins. Drushaun McLaurn paved the way with 26 points, and now ranks sixth in the SSC with an average of 17.4 points per game.
David Halberstam will have the call live from the McArthur Center. For complete coverage of the action, log onto
