HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Nova Southeastern ignited the home crowd in the early going when Bailey Corbin ended up as the recipient of a deflected Monica Orteu corner attempt. With the ball ricocheted in front of the net, the Lampeter, Pennsylvania native cleaned up the mess to put the Sharks in front 1-0 in the 15th minute.
- Barry's most opportune chance in the opening half came in the 35th minute, but keeper Jordan Lentz made a sliding kick save to prevent the would-be goal by Buccaneers' midfielder Carissa Sanchez.
- The Sharks maintained its 1-0 cushion until the 50th minute when Barry's Brittany Larosa provided the equalizer off a set piece taken by teammate Christy Grimshaw.
- Just 2:15 later, Barry once again found itself in attack mode, and managed to grab its first lead of the night thanks to a converted cross by Sanchez on a feed from Molly Sharpe.
- Keeping its foot on the gas against the SSC's top offensive club, Barry threatened once again in the 64th minute. With possession on the right edge of the box, Sanchez played an exceptional ball along the goal line for Amanda Traynor, who added a bit more breathing room for the Bucs with a one-time finish.
- The Sharks would tally three shots the rest of the way, but weren't able to muster any sort of late-game heroics in just their second loss of the season.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Thursday's match did not count towards SSC play, leaving the Sharks still atop the league standings by five points with three matches remaining.
- Both of the Sharks' losses this season have resulted the only two times they've failed to score at least two goals.
- The 3-1 setback snapped Nova Southeastern's previous three-match unbeaten streak against the Bucs.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- Corbin's goal marked her second this season, and third overall during her three-year Shark career.
- Both sides registered an even five shots a piece in the first half. However, the final shot total favored Barry by a 17-8 margin.
- Nova Southeastern managed just one shot on target throughout the final 75 minutes of the match.
