HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The visitors struck first just nine minutes in when Niklas Sommerer recorded his second goal of the season on a feed from teammate Matheus Assumpcao.
- However, the Sharks wouldn't wait long to respond. On the receiving end of a well-played ball from Ignacio Goya, Mohammed delivered the equalizer in the 12th minute to even up the match at 1-1.
- The Nova Southeastern offense proved to just be getting warmed up, too. Less than four minutes following his first score of the night, Mohammed beat Eckerd keeper Alex Gott with a lunging header on a perfectly executed play keyed by Nate Matthews.
- Still leading 2-1 in the 33rd minute, the beautiful goals kept coming after Darwin Lom delivered a one-touch flick over Gott to extend the Sharks' advantage. The assist marked the second of the season for Filippo Mancini.
- Eckerd would narrow the gap to 3-2 on a volleyed strike by Westleigh Rush, and nearly knotted up the match in the 67th minute. However, a ridiculous, diving one-handed save by keeper Jack Howard kept Nova Southeastern's lead intact.
- Clinging to the one-goal edge, the Sharks were finally able to exhale when Lom linked up with Noel Johnson for the much-needed insurance goal in the 84th minute.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Saturday's victory marks the first time the Sharks have won consecutive matches since doing so against St. Thomas (Fla.) and West Alabama in September of 2016.
- Following their respective scores, Johnson and Lom remain tied for the team lead with five goals on the year. The last time the Sharks had a least two goal-scorers in the same season was back in 2009.
- Mohammed's multi-goal effort is the second of his NSU career, having also accomplished the feat on October 15, 2016 versus Rollins.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- Adding four more goals on Saturday, NSU has now tallied a combined 10 during its last two wins.
- Howard registered four saves in his second consecutive start in net.
- Eckerd managed to outshoot the Sharks 12-11 in the match, while both sides finished with an even six shots on goal.
