HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Nova Southeastern dominated play to open the match, and grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when Bestun Mohammed drilled a left footed-strike into the back of the net on a feed from Ignacio Goya.
  • However, as much as the Sharks outplayed the Eagles throughout the first 30 minutes, the roles reversed down the stretch of the first half as the visitors grabbed a 2-1 edge entering the break thanks to a converted penalty kick by Teddy West.
  • A pair of unlucky breaks on a near-own goal and a Goya rocket off the crossbar kept the score locked at 2-1 towards the tail end of the second half. However, Faistenauer came up clutch for the second straight match, heading in an Andrea Asti Brun cross to even up the contest in the 88th minute.
  • Both sides managed only one shot a piece in the first period of extra time, but Lom sent the seniors off as winners after capitalizing on an assist from Noel Johnson in the 105th minute.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Sunday's victory marked the first overtime win for the Sharks since knocking off Florida Southern 3-2 back on October 1, 2011.
  • Nova Southeastern wrapped up 2017 on a four-game win streak, its first since the start of 2008.
  • Until Sunday, the Sharks had not won three consecutive matches in league play since the tail end of 2010.That same year was also the last time the program finished with a winning record.
  • The Sharks' 15 points in the SSC standings would have earned them the No. 4 seed in the SSC Tournament a year ago

STATS OF THE NIGHT:
  • Thanks to his game-winning effort, Lom finishes the year as the Sharks' top goal scorer with six.
  • Nova Southeastern's 27 goals this season were 10 more than its total from its 2016 campaign.
  • The Sharks outshot the Eagles on the night by a 15-12 margin, and also owned an 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Keepers Jack Howard and Nico Rosiglioni needed only one save apiece in split time to lift Nova Southeastern to the win on Sunday.
  • Faistenauer concluded the season with three goals in his final four matches after failing to score in each of his first nine contests.
