Sharks Drop Road Match to No. 23 Rollins

Sharks strike first, but can’t hold on.

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University men's soccer team lost to the host No. 23 Rollins Tars in a Sunshine State Conference match.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- For the second Saturday in a row, the Sharks scored on their first shot attempt of the match, this time by Noel Johnson, who dribbled around the keeper on a counter attack in the 9th minute.
· The Tars quickly tied the game, when Ben Grant scored on a penalty kick just 90 seconds after the Sharks took the lead.
· Not content with a tie, Tars took the lead for the good less than two minutes later, on the first of two on the night by Matt Volk.
- Despite three goals in the first 12 minutes of the match, both offenses were quiet for the rest of the first half, totaling just four shots combined. Rollins' George New broke the silence in the 64th minute.
- The Tars put the game away with three goals in the match's final 10 minutes.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Johnson scored his third goal of the young season, already matching his total from last year.
- Aside from giving him the team lead, Johnson's goal puts him in a tie for seventh among conference players.

STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- The Sharks were outshot 16-4 in the match, and 10-2 in the second half.
- The Tars were on target on 11 of their attempts, compared to just two for NSU.
