HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Florida Southern stunned the Sharks a bit in the 14th minute when Elanee Otto's first goal of the season gave the Moccasins the early lead. The midfielder just got enough of her head on a corner kick served In by Cali Larson to find the back of the net.
- Freshman Olivia Graham nearly knotted up the score in the 23rd minute, yet had her shot ricochet off the crossbar.
- However, in the 30th minute the Sharks broke through when Edwards headed a bouncing shot into the right corner of the net on a corner played in by Emma Heikkila.
- Before the Nova Southeastern crowd could even settle back in, Edwards was it again, this time speeding past multiple defenders before firing a low shot into the right corner for her team-leading sixth goal on the year.
- From there, the Sharks' defense took control, limiting Florida Southern to just two shot attempts in the second half en route to the sound victory.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- The Sharks recorded 20 shots in the win, as opposed to allowing just eight by Florida Southern.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Saturday's victory moves the Sharks to 5-1-1 in their last seven matches, and within three points of second in the SSC standings.
- Edwards' multi-goal effort marked the second this season and third of her career.
