HOW IT HAPPENED:
1
st Half | The Nova Southeastern offense was nearly unstoppable all night, but especially in the first half, when it racked up a whopping 78 points on 53.7 percent from the floor. The Sharks needed just 47 seconds to jump out to a quick 7-0 lead following a lay-up by
Dwayne Gibson. Florida National remained within a pair at the 15:32 mark until the wheels gradually fell off for the Conquistadors. A dish from Dennis to Matthews stretched the cushion to double-digits midway through the half before Nova Southeastern ripped off 13 unanswered to take full control in front 50-27. Even as head coach
Jim Crutchfield turned deep into his bench, the buckets kept falling, as
Felipe Souza converted a baby hook in the lane to push the margin above 30 with 3:50 to play. Keyed by 28 points off turnovers in the first half alone, the Sharks eventually headed into the locker in command up 78-44.
2
nd Half | The lead reached its largest of the night (86-48) in the early moments of the second half following two of
Nick Smith's 11 points. From there, the Sharks went on cruise control, topping the 100-point plateau still with 11:58 remaining.
