HOW IT HAPPENED:
Nova Southeastern struck first in the bottom of the third when Kuzemka roped an 0-2 offering from Lander starter Tripper Ergle up the middle to score both Andrew Labosky and Harris. The Sharks would keep the two-run lead intact in the fifth after Harris reached on a bunt single and never broke stride as two Bearcat errors allowed the Sharks' lead-off batter to round the bases on the play. Three batters later, the advantage soon stretched to 4-1 thanks to an Anchia single through the left side of the infield, now giving him a team-leading 15 RBI already this season.

Lander pulled back within a run in the top of the sixth following a two-out single by Zack Moore. However, the momentum would be halted as hits soon became contagious throughout the Nova Southeastern lineup. After two quick outs in the home half of the sixth, Nathan Chevalier sparked the rally with an infield single to shortstop. Labosky then singled into center before a Harris double plated Chevalier from second. Another infield hit, this time by Nicholas Gallo, brought in Labosky with an errant throw allowing Harris to come all the way around from second. The train kept rolling, too, as Kuzemka soon helped the Sharks break open an 8-3 lead with his third RBI of the night.

Nova Southeastern tacked on four more runs In the ensuing inning before Thomas Barberi came on in relief to secure the final out of the series-opening win.

STATS OF THE NIGHT:
  • Since being moved to the top of the lineup through the past two games, Harris has gone a combined 7-for-8 at the dish with nine runs scored.
  • The Sharks received a boost from the bottom of the order as Chevalier and Labosky tallied a combined four hits and five runs scored.
  • Throughout its three-game win streak, Nova Southeastern has averaged 11 runs per game.
