FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Tied at one game apiece, the Nova Southeastern softball team earned the series win over the Barry Buccaneers with a 6-2 victory at the AD Griffin Sports Complex on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 1ST: With one out and a runner on first, an RBI-double by Anieliese Palmeiro put the Bucs on the board before a single by the next batter, Madison VonHagel, scored her for a 2-0 early barry advantage.
BOTTOM 1ST: A fielding error by Barry allowed
Kailynn Blackwood to reach to lead off the inning before back-to-back walks drawn by
Dana Edmundson and
Alex Suzuki loaded the bases. A sacrifice fly by
Daniela Bautista cut the deficit to one run, before an RBI-single by
Keeley Mayers plated Edmundson to knot the game at 2-2.
BOTTOM 4TH: With Mayers on third and
Megan Granitto on second, a ground out by
Megan Maloney and an RBI-single by
Kayla Kight scored the two baserunners and the Sharks took a 4-2 lead. After a Blackwood single and a fly out by
Lexie Storrer, Kight was brought home thanks to a fielding error by Barry to make it 5-2 in NSU's favor.
BOTTOM 6TH: Kight led the inning off with a single throught the right side and a passed ball allowed her to make it to second before an RBI-single by Edmundson scored her to represent NSU's final tally and eventual 6-2 winning score.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Mayers finished with another solid performance, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and one run scored.
- Kight was 2-for-3 with one RBI and scored twice while Edmundson was 1-for-3 with two RBI and one scored run.
- Alex Suzuki dew two walks.
- Storrer was awarded the win after tossing the full game, allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Storrer's seven strikeouts tied her season-high, set yesterday evening.
UP NEXT:
The Sharks will travel to Winter Park, Fla. to compete in their last road series of the season against the Tars of Rollins College. First pitch of the season opener is set for 6:00 p.m. on Satruday, Apr. 14.
