FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – In the first game of a three-game Sunshine State Conference series against Florida Tech, the Nova Southeastern softball team fell, 4-1, under the lights at the AD Griffin Sports Complex on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 1ST: The Panthers took an early 2-0 lead in the first, capitalizing off an RBI-single by Mikayla Wessel and a Shark fielding error.
TOP 2ND: A double to left center by Xiary Emerenciana scored Rachel Kraak from second, giving FIT a 3-0 edge.
TOP 7TH: After four scoreless innings for either team, Emerenciana sent her second RBI-double of the night to center to tally FIT's fourth and final run of the night.
BOTTOM 7TH: The Sharks ruined Melanie Murphy's shut out in the bottom of the seventh, as
Dana Edmundson scored on an error by the Panthers, tallying NSU's lone tally.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- The Sharks were held to two hits on the night, recorded by Lexie Storrer and Edmundson.
- Storrer moved to 9-14 on the year after pitching 7.0 innings and allowing four runs (3 ER) on seven hits with four strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Sharks were held to one hit until the bottom of the seventh as Edmundson sent a double deep into left center.

The Sharks will finish up the three-game series against the Panthers tomorrow afternoon with a doubleheader slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
