HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Following a slow start for both sides to begin the match, Tampa captured the early momentum in the 12th minute after Libby Wissman linked up with Emily Cady to put the home team on the board.
  • The Spartans soon doubled their lead in the 18th minute thanks to the fourth goal of the season from freshman Moeko Morse.
  • Nova Southeastern looked to cut into the deficit midway through the first half, yet Emma Heikkila had her shot attempt swallowed up by Tampa keeper Megan Bromwell.
  • Still in front by the same 2-0 margin, the Spartans added another score in the 67th minute, proving to be enough on a night in which the Sharks totaled only three shots.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Saturday's loss marked the first for Nova Southeastern in a conference opener since 2015.
  • Freshman Natalie Robayna earned her first career start in goal for the Sharks.
 STATS OF THE NIGHT:
  • Heikkila accounted for all three of Nova Southeastern's shots Saturday.
  • Tampa won the corner kick battle against the Sharks by a margin of 6-0.
