HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Panthers took the game's first shot attempt in the third minute, but Sharks goalkeeper Titouan Le Roux made the save.
- The Sharks made their first attempt count less than 10 minutes later when Bradley Fountain used some fancy footwork to get past a couple of Panthers defenders. With a little breathing room, he then arched the ball into the upper left corner of the net from outside the box for the match's first, and in time, only goal.
- Le Roux was credited with one more first-half save in the 23rd minute.
- The second half saw some aggressiveness between the two teams, as they combined for each of the game's six yellow cards in a span of 25 minutes. The two sides were also called for 18 of the 33 fouls in the final 45 minutes.
- Le Roux made two additional save after the break, in the 49th and 70th minutes.
- The Panthers had three more tries between the 79th and 82nd minutes, but the shots were high, blocked and wide, respectively. Neither team attempted another shot after the 81:30 mark.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Sharks matched previous seven-match winning streaks by the 1986, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2007 squads, but none of those five streaks reached eight games.
- The victory also marked the first against Florida Tech since Sep. 9, 2009, snapping a 10-match winless stretch, and the first against the Panthers on the road or in conference since Oct. 23, 2007.
- This is the first 3-0 Sunshine State Conference start since Nova Southeastern joined the conference as full members in 2004. Their last 3-0 start in conference play came in 1998 as members of the NAIA's Florida Sun Conference.
- Including their four-game streak to end the 2017 season, the Sharks are now winners of 11 of their last 12 matches.
- The Sharks have recorded three consecutive shutouts for the first time since the first three games of the 2012 season, which is also the last time they recorded four or more in a single season. The last streak of back-to-back SSC shutouts was on Oct. 18-22 of 2008.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- Le Roux's four shutouts on the season are tied for the SSC lead. In conference play, he also leads the league in shutouts (2), save percentage (.875) and goals-against average (0.33).
- During the course of the winning streak, Le Roux has a save percentage of .762 and a goals- against average of 0.71.
- Fountain's goal is his third goal of the season and first in an SSC game. A grad transfer from FIU, Fountain is third on the team in goals.
