HOW IT HAPPENED:
1ST QUARTER | The Sharks were the first to strike as
Maria Bardeeva gave the Sharks a 2-0 lead with a jumper in the paint 17 seconds into the game. The quarter saw two ties over the next five minutes before a three-pointer by Barry's Harriet Swindells gave Barry its first lead of the game. A bucket by Bardeeva put the advantage back on NSU's side as the Sharks started to pull away, with
Christen Prasse's three pushing Nova Southeastern's lead out to six (16-10) with one second left in the quarter.
2ND QUARTER | After almost two and a half minutes of scoreless play by the Sharks, Prasse drained her second trey of the game to give NSU a 19-13 edge. Nova Southeastern earned their first double-digit lead of the game at the 3:43 mark as Prasse continued to show her offensive strength with an and-one for a 30-19 lead. NSU was unable to score for the remainder of the frame, as Barry narrowed their lead down to five, 30-25, at the break.
3D QUARTER | The two teams exchanged baskets back and forth for the first 4:33 of the game before a split pair of free throws by
Cheray Saunders sparked a 9-0 run by the Sharks. A three-pointer by BU's Ida Andersson represented the home team's first basket in over five minutes, and their last of the quarter as two from the line by
Claire McMahon gave NSU a 49-33 lead with one frame left to go.
4TH QUARTER | It took the Sharks two minutes to earn their first 20-point lead of the game as Prasse sank two free throws for a 56-35 lead. A 5-0 run by Barry at the 5:09 mark cut their deficit down to 16 before free throws by Mikaya Thompson and a layup by
Katie Barnard brought NSU back out to a 65-45 edge. A layup by
Jordan Tully served as NSU's final score of the game, as Barry netted back-to-back layups to close out the game with the Sharks on top, 67-49.
