MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Despite a 3-0 non-conference victory over Barry at the NSU Soccer Complex just three weeks ago, the Nova Southeastern women's soccer team fell on the road to the Buccaneers on Wednesday evening, 2-0, marking its first loss in Sunshine State Conference play during the 2019 campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Barry controlled possession to begin the game, tallying all three shots in the first 10 minutes. The Sharks' first two attempts came from Hannah Christophe and Emma Heikkila in the 14th and 16th minutes, respectively.
- The Bucs broke the scoreless tie in the 35th minute, scoring off a corner kick, and maintained the advantage into halftime by holding the Sharks without a single shot for the final 13 minutes of the first period.
- In the second half, the Bucs found a gap in the Sharks defense, with a string of nine consecutive shots between the 54th and 58th minutes, scoring on the sixth of those attempts off a rebounded save.
- NSU had opportunities, rattling off seven attempts after falling behind by the two-goal deficit, but all three shots on goal were saved by Barry keeper Maddie Hart-Pomerantz.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The two goals allowed by the Sharks matched the total allowed all season entering Wednesday, and also marked the first two given up all season in conference play, ending a scoreless streak of 511 minutes over the course of the team's first six SSC matches.
- After setting records with six consecutive shutouts, and a scoreless streak of over 746 minutes of game time, the Sharks have now allowed three goals in their last 90:01.
- The offense has also been held scoreless for three straight games, a streak lasting nearly 300 minutes.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- The Bucs outshot the Sharks 23-15 in the game, including 8-6 in the first half and 15-9 in the second. For Barry, eight of its 23 shots were on target, four in each half, while the Sharks were on goal with seven of their 15 attempts. The Bucs also held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
- The Sharks trailed at halftime for the first time all season and were outshot for just the second time in 2019, the first coming in the scoreless tie against Tampa on Oct. 12.
- Sydni Bostick led the team with five shots, while Christophe, Heikkila, and Alexys Nowak had two each. Both of Heikkila's shots were on target, giving her enough to lead the team.
