MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Coming off a dramatic fourth-quarter rally to earn a win on Friday at the Cesar Odio Thanksgiving Classic, Saturday didn't bode as well for the Nova Southeastern women's basketball team, as No. 10 Alaska Anchorage built an early lead over the Sharks and carried through in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1ST QUARTER | The game remained tight early as the Sharks forced two ties in the first five minutes, first with
Iva Ilic and then Clair McMahon, both on fast breaks with a quick exchange from
Sarah Kelly defensive rebounds. However, the NSU offense stalled as UAA outscored the Sharks 11-3 across the next three minutes. The opening stanza closed with UAA on top 24-15 after hitting shots on their final two possessions.
2ND QUARTER | Ilic and McMahon teamed up with a pair of threes in the opening four minutes to slice the Seawolves' advantage to just four at 26-22. However, just under the five-minute mark, UAA started to move, allowing just one NSU field goal across a three-and-a-half-minute stretch to build their lead out to 17 points – heading to half with NSU facing a 49-31 deficit.
3RD QUARTER | Although the Sharks picked up an early bucket in the third from
Skyla Osceola, UAA launched an 13-4 run that extended to 2:33 before NSU was able to free their offense. Across the final two-and-a-half, the Sharks outscored the Seawolves 6-5 to end the period trailing 69-41.
4TH QUARTER | UAA closed the afternoon with a 16-6 fourth quarter, despite the efforts at the line from Ilic, McMahon and
Makenna Drabick, closing out with an 85-47 final.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Co-leader with McMahon, Ilic had 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting, including 2-of-5 from three-point range. She had two assists and a steal.
- Also at 12 points, McMahon hit 5-for-9 and paced the Sharks with nine rebounds.
- The Seawolves led or were tied with the Sharks wire-to-wire.
- The Sharks shot 38 percent from the field, while UAA was at 48 percent.
- The Sharks committed 34 turnovers, resulting in 40 UAA points.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Osceola recorded a season-high five assists against Alaska Anchorage.

The Sharks will have a short break, returning to the court next Saturday in Sunshine State Conference play at Saint Leo.
