ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women's basketball suffered a last-quarter 74-68 loss to the Eckerd Tritons on Wednesday evening at the McArthur Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1ST QUARTER | The Sharks quickly jumped out to a 5-0 lead with a layup by
Claire McMahon and a three-pointer by
Mikayla Thompson. A layup by the Tritons at the 7:29 mark was their only tally for the next three minutes, as NSU pushed their lead at to 10-2. A 9-5 run by the Tritons closed out the first quarter, keeping the Sharks four points out in front, 15-11.
2ND QUARTER | A 10-4 run, capped with a trey by McMahon in the first three minutes gave NSU their first double-digit lead of the game at 25-15. The Tritons were able to fight back to bring the Sharks' lead under double digits before a three-pointer by
Iva Ilic at the 2:56 mark gave the Sharks their largest lead of the game, 11 points (31-20). Eckerd was able to chip away at NSU's edge, bringing it down to five with 33 seconds remaining, before a layup by
Alison Hughes extended it back out to seven (37-30) heading into halftime.
3RD QUARTER | The Tritons were able to bring the deficit to just two points 1:30 into the third quarter before a 7-2 run by the Sharks, sparked with a pair of free throws by McMahon, gave NSU a 45-37 edge at the 6:30 mark. Eckerd responded with an 8-0 run of their own to knot the game for the first time, 45-45. The game saw another tie before the home team took their first lead of the game, 49-48, with 1:46 left in the quarter. The game saw two more ties before an and-one by
Christen Prasse gave NSU back their lead, 53-52, with one quarter to go.
4TH QUARTER | A layup and a three-pointer by
Jordan Tully put the advantage back on Nova Southeastern's side, 58-54, at the 7:39 mark. Two minutes later, a three by EC's Yarden Danan tied things up, 60-60, and at the 5:16 mark, Eckerd took the lead for the final time, holding onto it until the end. A pair of free throws by Tully made it a one possession game, 71-68, but it wasn't enough to spark a Sharks comeback as NSU fell to the Tritons, 74-68.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Tully led the Sharks with 19 points, shooting 6-of-8 from the field and 6-of-9 from the line. She also added two blocks and five rebounds.
- McMahon added 13 points, also tallying five rebounds with two blocks and a team-high three steals.
- Cheray Saunders chipped in 11 while Hughes had 10. Hughes also added a team-high four assists and three rebounds.
- Prasse recorded a team-high six boards to go with nine points and three assists.
