WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Squaring up with their fourth road opponent of the year and kicking off Sunshine State Conference play, the No. 7 Nova Southeastern women's tennis team (5-0, 1-0 SSC) delivered their fourth consecutive 7-0 sweep victory on Thursday, defeating Palm Beach Atlantic at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) updated the national rankings on Thursday, tabbing five SSC teams among the national Top 10, including NSU – moving the Sharks up one spot from eighth to seventh.
Doubles
- Cologne, Germany sophomore Chantal Nosievici and junior Isabella Lowrey got NSU started with a 6-0 victory over Nicole Reich and Elvira Edstrom in the third doubles flight.
- Nationally 12th-ranked pair junior Daniela Obando and senior Ana Navas gutted out a 6-4 victory over Vanessa Buchbinder and Yulia Russu to secure the team win with the No. 1 doubles victory.
Singles
- First to finish, junior Sarah Wardenburg earned a win by retirement over Romina Bolahay, ending with the score at 2-2 in the fourth flight.
- No. 13 freshman Natalie Espinal earned 6-1, 6-3 victories over Mermersky at the No. 2.
- No. 9 Navas secured a 6-2, 6-0 over Buchbinder in the top flight.
- The fourth win was delivered by Nosievici with a clean 6-1, 6-1 over Verena Weindl.
- Freshman Diane Follin-Arbelet topped Reich 6-1, 6-3 in the fifth flight.
- The singles sweep was secured in the third flight with a win by Obando over Consuela VanGrinsven, pushing the Sharks up 6-0.

"We won 7-0 and it's nice to open up conference with a road win," Neagle said. "There were windy conditions today and our girls found a way to get the job done."
