MIRAMAR, Fla. – Closing their home season at the Ansin Sports Complex with a senior day celebration on Tuesday, Nova Southeastern track and field secured the women's team victory and finished second on the men's side. The Sharks won six events and picked up top three finishes in 20 additional events. The women's team scored 156 points in the 10-team field to win the team title, while the men fell only eight points shy of St. Thomas Aquinas College, finishing in second place among nine schools with 132 points.
SENIORS
FIELD EVENTS
- Making his NSU debut, freshman Avan Edobor set a school record in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.88m (22-7) on his first attempts to finish third, surpassing current teammate Horn by 0.01m.
- Law went 3.35m (10-11.75) to win the women's pole vault after the event was moved later in the schedule.
- Johnson tossed 13.05m (42-9.75) for the women's shot put victory on her third attempt of the day, just one inch shy of her career best.
RUNNING EVENTS
- Earning the win by nearly three seconds, Kenyon ran a time of 58.10 in the women's 400m, just .2 seconds short of her career best.
- Leading a sweep of the top three spots in the men's 800m, freshman Michael Parry at 1:54.18, edging out Stathis and classmate Inigo Cillero.
- Pacing the women's 3,000m steeplechase, sophomore Kuepper Feehan registered a winning time of 12:09.33 in her career steeple debut.
RELAY EVENTS
- The NSU men's 4x800m relay squad of Parry, Cote Strike, Juan Parra and Stathis combined for a mark of 8:11.16 to win the event.
- On the women's side, the 4x100m team of Natassia Tyler, Blackwood, Carly Rothert and Charissa Bacon ran 50.78 for second place.
