No. 8 Sharks Deliver Another Sweep at Florida Tech

Playing shorthanded, NSU produced its ninth perfect win

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. – In spite of some lineup changes, the No. 8 Nova Southeastern tennis team (17-1, 7-1 SSC) went on the road and collected their ninth perfect 7-0 sweep of the season, defeating Florida Tech (9-4, 1-4 SSC) on Saturday at the DeSoto Tennis Complex.

The Sharks continue their trajectory toward the best program start since the 2014-15 season. That season, NSU finished 18-3 with the year ending in the NCAA South Regional.

  • At No. 2 doubles, freshmen Diane Follin-Arbelet and Caitlyn Khan earned the 6-1 victory over Maria Paricio and Paloma Vela in their first appearance as a tandem, earning the team doubles point win.
  • Rounding out perfect doubles run, sophomores Chantal Nosievici and Ivana Djordjevic earned a 6-4 win over Lauren Stuckey and Dina Dragoljic.
Singles
  • Keeping things going for the Sharks, Wardenburg went 6-1, 6-2 over Vela in No. 4 singles.
  • Khan earned her second win in as many opportunities with a sixth flight victory over Dragoljic, 6-0, 6-2, locking in the NSU win with the fourth point.
  • Djordjevic moved to 3-1 on the year with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Stuckey in singles No. 5.
  • No. 8 ITA player Espinal went 6-0, 6-2 to defeat No. 45 Reto in flight No. 1.
  • In No. 2 singles, Follin-Arbelet topped Paricio with a 6-2, 6-1 win.

From Coach Doug Neagle
"It's always nice to get a road win in this tough conference," Neagle said. "We had Caitlyn and Ivana in the doubles and singles lineup, and they stepped up today. We really showed our depth and it was awesome to see the freshman, Caitlyn get the clinching fourth point."

Up Next: The Sharks come back home for a key matchup against No. 4 Lynn (15-0, 6-0 SSC), next Wednesday at the NSU Tennis Complex.
