AUGUSTA, Ga.  - For the first time this season, Nova Southeastern men's track and field senior Eric Moate receives weekly conference honors, as officials from the Peach Belt Conference announced Moate as PBC Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
 
A Lakeland, Fla. native, Moate earned his second NCAA Championships provisional qualification over the weekend at the UM Hurricane Alumni Invitational. Moate reached a season-best 10.48 in the 100m, missing his own school record by just .04 seconds to finish fifth among collegiate competitors (11th overall). His time leads the Peach Belt, ranks third in the Southeast Region and ties for 11th nationally.
 
In addition to his solo performance, Moate also anchored the 4x100m relay to improving its NCAA provisional time to 40.94. Joined by Ian Nieves, Timothy Young and Zaheem Anderson, NSU finished fourth among collegiate teams and sixth overall.
 
Recording another time that would top the PBC but fell shy of a new season best, Moate registered a 21.34 in the 200m to tie for 14th overall in a field dominated by independent and pro runners - among collegiate performers, Moate tied North Carolina's Ryan Saint-Germain for fourth.
 
Moate and the Sharks are headed to the first competition of the postseason this week, traveling to Embry-Riddle's campus in Daytona Beach, Fla. for the Peach Belt Championships, Thursday-Saturday, April 18-20.
