HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Back at the NSU Soccer Complex for the first time since Sept. 8, Nova Southeastern felt right at home, needing just 7:13 to take the lead on a Lawrence strike into the low, right corner of the goal.
- Just 1:15 later, the Sharks capitalized once again, as Matty Cornish connected on his first career goal in an NSU uniform. Lucas Dessoliers played a beautiful ball forward to Cornish, who chipped his initial touch over the keeper before finishing with an emphatic score.
- Isidoro Garcia grew the advantage to 3-0 after flicking a header past the Florida Memorial keeper on a corner kick sent in by Jan Luca Ahillen. The goal was one of four the Sharks would rack up the opening 20 minutes, as a string of passes by Bryan Bakboord and Ahillen led to Lawrence's second goal of the night at the 19:58 mark.
- In the 37th minute, Miguez notched his first goal of the season, sending NSU into halftime in front 5-0.
- Carrying the offense into the second half, Miguez struck twice more in a span of 4:25, stretching the cushion to 7-0.
- Even that margin wasn't safe, as a well-played ball over the top from Christian Gorski in the 83rd minute set Milos Christoforou up for the eighth and final goal of the match.
- Making his NSU debut late in Friday's match, sophomore keeper David Gassner preserved the Sharks' third shutout of the season thanks to a diving save.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Miguez's hat trick is the first by an NSU player since Sebastian Loibl accomplished the feat in a 5-0 win over Flagler on Sept. 18, 2018.
- The Sharks have now earned shutouts in three of their past four matches.
- Following his two-score performance, Lawrence has now surpassed his goal total from the entire 2018 season in which he appeared in 16 games.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
- Seven different players recorded at last one assist for the Sharks on Friday – Ahillen, Bakboord, Henrik Berg, Cornish, Dessoliers, Christian Gorski and Juanchi Nunez.
- Nova Southeastern outshot Florida Memorial by a whopping mark of 34-10, including 23-6 in the opening 45 minutes.
- Starting goalkeeper Titouan Le Roux finished with three saves in the win.
