HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Sharks dominated play in the opening 45 minutes, racking up 10 shots to just one by the Tritons.
  • After Matty Cornish had his attempt saved in the 19th minute, NSU managed to break through just 1:12 later when Tino Miguez found the back of the net to hand the Sharks the early 1-0 advantage.
  • Despite controlling much of the action, the Sharks lead still sat at just 1-0 in the 54th minute when Martin Aanestad knotted the match for Eckerd after finishing on an assist from Frederik Klausen.
  • The NSU offense was held in check, as the Sharks didn't register another shot until Henrik Berg's attempt was blocked in the 69th minute.
  • The contest appeared headed for extra time, with the score still deadlocked at 1-1 down the stretch of regulation. However, Cornish provided a much-needed spark in the 84th minute, as the team's leading goal scorer made a run down the left wing, cut in and drilled a low shot into the right corner of the net to put NSU back on top.
  • Just 2:06 later, the Sharks drew a penalty in the box, giving way for Milos Christoforou to ice the match on the ensuing conversion.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • With the victory, NSU improves to 3-0 on the road this season, each win coming in SSC play.
  • The Sharks have averaged 2.7 goals per game in their three road matches, as opposed to 1.4 goals per game in their eight home matches.
  • Cornish and Christoforou have now combined to score nine of NSU's 19 goals this season.
STATS OF THE NIGHT:
  • NSU outshot Eckerd by a 17-5 margin in the effort.
  • The Sharks also won the battle in corner kicks, 6-0.
  • NSU keeper Alberto Ciroi collected three saves in the win.
