#17 Sharks Beat Lions in SSC Play

NSU Hosts Think Pink Game

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - #17 Nova Southeastern Sharks improved to 11-0 at the Rick Case Arena on the 2021 season with a four-set win over Saint Leo on Thursday evening. Tonight's match was to raise awareness for breast cancer.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • After following behind the Lions 3-0 to open the match, NSU responded with eight consecutive points to take an 8-3 lead. 
  • Cambry Pope recorded two service aces during the rally for the Sharks. 
  • Nova Southeastern added 4-of-6 points with Marianna Fiocco, Julia Bernardes, and Elizabeth Price added kills and Bruna Avila capped off the run with a service ace.  
  • Later on in the set, NSU added a 5-0 rally, taking a 21-11 advantage over the Lions. 
  • Brittany Landrum and Amanda Hall sealed the first set win for Nova Southeastern, as the duo tallied back-to-back kills. 
  • Saint Leo started the second set with a 5-2 lead.  
  • Trailing 15-8, NSU rallied for five consecutive points, bringing the score to 15-13.  
  • Aleyna Kennel added a service ace and Alex Psoma recorded a kill to tie the second set 16-16. 
  • NSU dropped the second set 25-20, as the match was tied 1-1.  
  • Nova Southeastern took a 5-1 lead to open the third set, capitalizing on a pair of Lion errors. 
  • Psoma tallied two consecutive kills, extending the NSU lead to 13-8. 
  • Kennel added a pair of service aces in the third set, helping the Sharks close out the set victory, 25-17 over the Lions. 
  • Hall recorded back-to-back points for NSU as Nova Southeastern led 7-5.  
  • Kennel's fourth service of the match helped the Sharks take a 19-15 lead in the fourth set.  
  • NSU closed the Sunshine State Conference win with a 25-22 victory in the fourth and final set.  

UP NEXT 

No 17 Nova Southeastern takes on the Tritons of Eckerd on Sat., Oct. 30, from the Rick Case Arena with first serve scheduled for 4 p.m.
