FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Women's Basketball team returned to the Shark Tank at the Rick Case Arena for the first time since the 2019-20 season on Friday evening and defeated the Falcons of St. Augustine's 78-48 in the 2021-22 home opener. NSU improved to 3-1 on the season and tonight's game started a five-game homestand for the Sharks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER: Hailey Conley and Keanna Williams hit back-to-back three-pointers to give the Sharks an early 8-2 lead. India Shepherd extended the NSU advantage to 11-5 with her first three-pointer of the contest. A fastbreak lay-up from Grace Gilmore, off an assist from Conley, extended the NSU lead to 13-6 midway through the first quarter. Conley's second three-pointer of the first quarter gave the Sharks a 22-11 advantage over the Falcons. Williams closed out the first quarter with a layup, beating the buzzer, and sending the Sharks to the second quarter with a 26-15 lead.
2ND QUARTER: McKenah Peters started the second quarter with her first of six three-pointers in the game, putting Nova Southeastern ahead 29-15. NSU scored eight unanswered points to begin the quarter, with the run getting capped off by a Kyarrah Grant three-point make. NSU went into halftime leading 38-20.
3RD QUARTER: Peters hit five three-pointers in the third quarter, finishing the game 6-of-8 from beyond the arc in her first game from the Shark Tank. NSU hit a combined six three-pointers in the third quarter, scoring 18-of-22 points, heading to the fourth quarter leading 60-36.
4TH QUARTER: Conley scored half of her 18 points in the final quarter, helping to close out the first home victory since Feb. 26, 2019 against Barry.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- NSU's defensive pressure helped lead the Sharks to victory, outscoring SAU 28-10 off points from turnovers.
- The Sharks shot 48.1% from three-point range as a team, scoring 39 points.
- Peters shot 70% from the field on the game, including 75% on three-point attempts.
