Sharks Beat Panthers in SSC Play

Peters Scores 1,000th Career Point in NSU's Win

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Sharks Women's Basketball team bounced back from a midweek loss with a 75-63 victory in Sunshine State Conference play against Florida Tech on Saturday afternoon from the Rick Case Arena. During the game, McKenah Peters recorded her 1,000th career collegiate point.

HOW IT HAPPENED  

1ST QUARTER – India Shepherd starting the scoring with a three-pointer, giving the Sharks the early lead. FIT battled back and took their first lead of the conference match-up with 7:03 remaining the quarter. Makenna Drabick reclaimed the advantage for NSU, scoring on a lay-up following an assist from Kyarrah Grant. Drabick's lay-up started an 8-0 run for Nova Southeastern, as the Sharks closed the quarter with a 17-9 lead.  

2ND QUARTER – Shepherd put NSU ahead 23-14 halfway through the second quarter, following a steal and lay-up. The Panthers hit back-to-back three-pointers, bringing themselves within three points, 23-20. Grant responded with a three pointer of her own, extending the NSU lead. The Sharks went into the halftime break leading 32-25.  

3RD QUARTER – A'Lexus Bryant added two makes, extending the NSU lead to 38-30. McKenah Peters surpassed 1,000 career points by making a three-pointer with 2:14 remaining in the third quarter, giving the Sharks a 45-33 lead. Nova Southeastern went into the fourth quarter holding a 53-36 lead over the Panthers.  

4TH QUARTER – Grant finished an and-one, putting the score at 56-38. At the midway point of the quarter, Nova Southeastern lead 58-51. NSU sealed the Sunshine State Conference victory from the free throw line, defeating the Florida Tech Panthers, 75-63.  

UP NEXT 

NSU travels to St. Augustine to fac-off against Flagler on Wed., 12/15. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
