PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball season concluded on Friday evening, as NSU was defeated in four-sets by the Spartans of Tampa in the second-round of the NCAA South Region Tournament. NSU finishes the 2021 season with a record of 25-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Julia Bernardes was able to open the scoring for the Sharks, recording the first kill of the match in the Sunshine State Conference Showdown.
- After falling behind 5-3 following a 3-0 run by the Spartans, Elizabeth Price and Brittany Landrum tied the set at 5-5 with back-to-back kills.
- Bernardes sparked a 6-0 run by Nova Southeastern, with Price adding a pair of kills, as NSU took a 17-13 advantage over UT.
- Madison Cook gave NSU a 22-16 lead a service ace late in the opening set.
- Bernardes sealed the first-set win with a kill, as Nova Southeastern led in the match 1-0 after winning set one, 25-20.
- Emily O'Neil and Bernardes book-ended a 3-0 run for NSU, giving the Sharks a 4-3 advantage in set-two.
- Amanda Hall tallied two consecutive points for Nova Southeastern pushing NSU ahead 8-5.
- A 6-0 run by the Spartans swung the momentum in both the set and the match as UT took an 11-8 lead over Nova Southeastern.
- Tampa extended their lead over NSU to 21-13 before claiming the second set 25-14 and tying the match 1-1.
- The Sharks were unable to get their footing in the third-set, falling behind 10-3 to start the period.
- Tampa closed out the set, 25-15, taking their second consecutive set of the match.
- The NSU momentum stalled again to begin the fourth-set, falling behind 8-4 before two straight Tampa errors brought the Sharks within two.
- UT rallied for 9-of-11 points, taking a 17-8 lead over the Sharks
- Nova Southeastern dropped the fourth set, 25-14, ending their 2021 season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. NSU made the program's first appearance in the national tournament for the first time since 2009.
In the second season under Head Coach Brian Rosen the Nova Southeastern Sharks had one of their most successful seasons in the history of the program. NSU set a program record for winning streak (19), has been ranked for nine consecutive weeks, highest Sunshine State Conference winning percentage (0.800), and most home wins (16).
