FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team picked up a pair of wins on Sunday afternoon, topping the Lynn Fighting Knights by a score of 5-2 in each game.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOTTOM 1ST | After drawing a leadoff-walk, stealing second and advancing on a sacrifice bunt by
Sam Sisco,
Alexis Smith scored on a wild pitch by Lynn's starting pitcher, Faith Miller, to give the Sharks an early edge.
BOTTOM 2ND | Leading the inning off with a base knock to right center and moving to second after a
Kerstyn Shaw walk,
Madison Fine was brought home by the next batter,
Samantha Burke who singled to the pitcher. After a Lynn pitching change, Smith flied out to left field, bringing home Shaw for a 3-0 NSU lead.
BOTTOM 6TH | With one out on the board, a sacrifice fly by
Tia Williams scored Smith, who laid down a bunt single two batters prior, giving NSU a 4-0 advantage. The next batter,
Allie Janowiak singled to right center, plating Sisco to move the Shark lead to 5-0 and representing NSU's last run of the game.
TOP 7TH | Lynn's two runs of the game came in the final frame as Bailey Fernandez used an RBI-single to bring home Olivia Pope and Olivia Lovins utilized a sacrifice fly to score pinch-runner Erin Sporn.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Janowiak was the only Shark to register multiple hits, finishing 2-for-4 with one RBI.
- Smith was 1-for-1 and drew two walks, while Madison Fine was 1-for-4 scoring once.
- Burke went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Juliana Speranza was walked twice.
- Emily Hess (6-5) picked up the win after 7.0 innings of work, striking out one.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Sharks stole five bases in game one, tying their season high.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP (GAME TWO):
FINAL: Nova Southeastern Sharks 5 (W: M. Johnson, 3-2), Lynn Fighting Knights 2 (L: A. Jameston, 0-11)
RECORDS: Nova Southeastern (9-7, 7-5 SSC), Lynn Fighting Knights (1-26, 0-21 SSC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 1ST | The Knights struck early in game two, tallying two runs off an Emily Yakel RBI-single.
BOTTOM 5TH | The Sharks stole the lead, 3-2, in the fifth thanks to a base-clearing three-RBI double by Speranza. An error by Lynn's second baseman on the next play allowed Speranza to score to make it 4-2.
BOTTOM 6TH | After doubling down the left field line, Smith was brought home on an RBI-single up the middle by Sisco, representing NSU's final run of the game.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Smith finished 3-for-4, scoring twice, while Speranza went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a scored run.
- Williams was 2-for-3, scoring once, and Sisco (1-for-4) and Shaw (1-for-2) each recorded one hit.
- Mikayla Johnson earned the win after pitching the complete game. She allowed two runs on five hits with two Ks.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Today's two wins move the overall series between the Fighting Knights and the Sharks to 52-31-1 in favor of NSU.
