Sharks Earn Third Consecutive SSC Victory

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Sharks earned their third consecutive victory in Sunshine State Conference action, defeating Florida Tech in a three-set sweep (25-22, 25-13, 25-18) on Tuesday evening from the Rick Case Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Despite the first set opening as a back-and-forth affair for the first few points, the Sharks – led by three kills from Kate Mihacevich – rallied to score six consecutive points and led 14-10.  

  • Florida Tech responded, tying the set at 20-20, but Mihacevich and Taylor Stockman sealed the first set win for NSU at 25-20.  

  • Nova Southeastern began the second set on a 4-0 run, with Stockman, Mihacevich and Cambry Pope all recording points for the Sharks. 

  • Pope and Olivia Aniol each added points, extending the Sharks advantage to 8-5.  

  • Service aces from Grace Green and Preslee Brooksbank, in addition to three more kills from Mihacevich, pushed the Sharks advantage to 14-7 midway through the second set.  

  • NSU clinched a 2-0 match lead by scoring the final five points in the second set.  

  • The Panthers began the third set – how the Sharks began the second – by scoring four consecutive points, but the Sharks responded by quickly tying the set at 4-4.  

  • NSU added another 5-0 run, getting boosts from Stockman, Aleyna Kennel, Madison Cook and Pope, pushing their lead to 11-7.  

  • Nova Southeastern extended their advantage to 17-11, after Mihacevich and Stockman added points around a Cook service ace.  

  • Mihacevich clinched the Sweep for the Sharks, as NSU took the third set 25-18.

Nova Southeastern will embark on a two-game road trip, first taking on Saint Leo on Fri., November 4 at 7 p.m. in Saint Leo, Fla.
