HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 3rd | The Sharks put the game's very first baserunner aboard with two away in the third after Sydney Lageyre laid down a well-executed bunt. The NSU centerfielder would move into scoring position after stealing second. However, Lageyre would be stranded following a flyout to right to end the frame.

BOT 5th | Despite a lack of offense, starting pitcher Ashley Connor kept the Sharks in the contest, as the freshman had still yet to allow a hit through five innings. After retiring
the side in order in the bottom of the inning, both sides headed to the sixth still scoreless.

BOT 6th | Connor's no-hitter was broken up following a lead-off single in the sixth. Not only did the no-hitter vanish, but the shutout did as well after two more base hits in the inning put the Eagles on the board, leading 1-0.

TOP 7th | NSU went down in order to end game one of the doubleheader, with Lageyre's bunt single proving to be the Sharks' lone hit in the 1-0 setback.

INSIDE THE STATS:
  • Connor allowed only three hits while striking out a season-high seven batters and walking none.
  • Both teams combined for just four hits in the effort.
  • Maddie Fine was the only other NSU player to reach base safely, doing so on an ERAU error in the top of the fourth.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP (GAME TWO)
Score: Embry-Riddle 5 (W: K. Collins, 4-2), Nova Southeastern 3 (L: K. Ellard, 3-3)
Records: Embry-Riddle (7-4, 5-1 SSC), Nova Southeastern (6-7, 0-3 SSC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 1st | The NSU bats awoke at the start of game two, as Ryleigh Langwell and Tia Williams led off the first inning with a pair of singles. After a sacrifice bunt by Fine moved both runners into scoring position, Allie Janowiak cashed in with a two-run double to right center to hand the Sharks the quick 2-0 advantage.

BOT 1st | The Eagles cut the lead in half following a run-scoring sac bunt in the bottom of the inning.

TOP 2nd | Samantha Burke sparked the offense in the second with a lead-off double. However, the momentum was soon thwarted two batters later when the NSU shortstop was thrown out at the plate on a grounder to first.

BOT 3rd | Stilling clinging to the 2-1 edge, the Sharks found themselves trailing all the sudden after a run-scoring single and a sac fly to center gave ERAU its first lead of the ball game.

TOP 4th | NSU loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the fourth. The Sharks would leave them full, though, after a grounder to third ended the threat.

TOP 5th | After the Eagles tacked on another run in the bottom of the fourth, the Sharks answered right back, pulling to within 4-3 on Janowiak's third RBI of the contest.

BOT 6th | ERAU added an insurance run on a sac fly in the sixth, which proved to be enough, as NSU failed to piece together any sort of rally in the eventual 5-3 final.

INSIDE THE STATS:
  • Janowiak finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI.
  • NSU recorded five stolen bases by five different players.
  • Contrast to game one of the afternoon, the Sharks put runners on base in five of the seven innings. However, NSU struggled to maximize its opportunities, leaving eight runners stranded for the game.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • In their three losses during the series, the Sharks were outscored by a combined margin of just 9-5.
